Pirates of the Caribbean, TWAS

Well, that was a pleasant evening out! Went to the cinema in Slough to see Pirates of the Caribbean. It would have been a humorous but humdrum Disney film if it weren't for Johnny Depp's incredible, consistent, camp, overacted cabaret - he truly made the film. Good special effects (particularly in the shafts of moonlight), but mesmerising because of that man and his curious eyeliner. Oh, and guess what - Jerry Bruckheimer produced it. As with every other thing on film in the past 3 years :)

The current TWAS, a blog largely about music, is a very interesting read. It's curious how people can be so frank with a billion people watching.

In other news (rather bafflingly coming last), I yesterday acquired a Sony-Ericsson P800. I'm not entirely sure about it, to be honest - the E100 has a better screen, and it's got no buttons! It's very capable, but:
  • Uses Memory Stick Duo, the world's worst memory format;
  • It's big;
  • It's unintuitive in places - no doubt a good PDA, but to lock the screen you need to put it in virtual keypad mode and engage the virtual keypad lock. Hold switch anyone?

  • I do quite like it, despite its price tag, and I did get an excellent tariff - 500 free texts each month, and unlimited GPRS WAP for a year (which can actually be used for any website... heh!). We'll see.

    Oh, and the sound quality and speakerphone are amazing.
    Why do I care though? I annoy myself. *sigh*
