Gentoo, viruses

How does a Windows machine with no network connection suddenly pick up W95.LoRez? It hasn't had any software installed on it for 2 years! Amazing.

Still, I hope to find time to install Gentoo (from Stage 3 - I'm on a P2-450 and I'd like it done before Christmas) on that machine, and deprecate Windows entirely.

This has prompted me to look into virus solutions on my main machine - in Linux I don't really need one, but now I've switched to XP instead of 2K I've lost my Norton install. F-Prot is first under my gaze.
