Installing SuSE
Well, the one package it failed to retrieve during install that I really missed was... the kernel. Oh, and kdebase. So, I'm now sitting in FVWM2, having loaded the kernel from the installation boot disc, manually FTP-ing k_deflt-2.4.21-144.i586.rpm and kdebase3-3.1.4-52.i586.rpm. With no mouse, as I don't have any kernel modules, so I can't load the USB support.Still, it is quite cool being able to do an FTP install - I was half way through the 1.8GB BitTorrent for the 5CD SuSE set, but it was taking quite a while and I didn't want to kill my iBook drive any more.
Linux is fun. I have to say, it's never been this temperamental before - the vagaries of a network.
