The joys of iBook
Well, my iBook duly arrived, new hard drive inside, this morning: 48-hour turnaround for a trip to Dublin; not bad.Issues:
- They've replaced the bottom cover, with two consequences: it's going to have to be re-branded (not too bad), and it's the wrong colour. Seems they didn't spot which edition of the iBook they were holding. *sigh*.
- Getting LYX to work again is going to really hurt (perhaps)
- Getting my P800 to sync again is even more painful: not only has it forgotten (despite the restore) that it ever synced with the phone, but it also won't do a merge sync without copying 440 entries around. So it's a "wipe the phone (again) and redo my groups... againi" kinda feeling.
Technology. It sucks.
However, I suppose I should be thankful: my data, software, music, email, Fire contacts, bibliography, and even my Stickies moved back just fine.
DellWatch™: still waiting for them to reply after I sent them an annoyed email saying
hey, I gave you the troubleshooting results, where's my damn drive?, they replied with
please cooperate with our copy-paste proceduresand I replied with
I HAVE!. Losers.
