Lisp Standardisation
The process of standardising Common Lisp in the early 80s went through a number of drafts, amusingly named in order of improving quality:
- Swiss Cheese Edition: lots of big holes
- Colander Edition: even more holes than before - but they're smaller!
- Laser Edition: supposed to be completely coherent
- Mary Poppins Edition: practically perfect in every way
I am of the opinion that this should be applied to all documents and software projects. Perfect!

Google Calculator
I think I might stop using programs at all, and just let Google do everything! Try
this query. Not to mention the flight lookups, translation, stock quotes, dictionary definitions, synonyms, US phone book, and others.
The only flaw is that it doesn't switch to Imperial gallons for
Google UK.
Google: the CLI of the Internet.

Marvellous quote from NTK
This is from this week's mailing:
ANDREW MORLEY suggested his own ingenious solution to the "corrupt CD" controversy
http://ukcdr.org/issues/cd/bad/#uk, with this tip for those trying to bypass the copy protection on the new Dido album, "Life For Rent": "Don't bother", Andrew succinctly advises. "Simply rip the previous Dido CD again - it sounds exactly the same"
