Cocoa Bindings

A fantastic recent addition to the Cocoa frameworks: bindings*. Essentially, it's the Controller point of the Model–View–Controller tripod. This article is a great introduction — an app to manage books, with not a single line of code! Just bindings between tables, text fields, buttons, and controllers. Wow!

I'm looking forward to doing some work with this!

* Apple's introduction is here; there's also a general introduction to Cocoa at Kuro5hin, a simple tutorial, and much else besides.

The benefits of accessible markup

From Dive Into Accessibility:

Google benefits. Google indexes the acronym title as well as the acronym itself, so people can find your site whether they search for the acronym or the spelled-out description.

Wow! I didn't realise Google did that — very clever.

That's a worthwhile site by the way — I've done pretty much everything in the course of doing this site (without that reference, unfortunately), and you should do the same.

In other news, my Leatherman Squirt S4 arrived this morning. Blimey, it's small! Only a tiny bit larger than my Swiss Army Knife Classic, so it's very keychainable! Of course, it's also very pretty so I don't want it to get banged up, but I must get used to it. Great action on the scissors in particular.

Let's hope I remember to leave it at home next time I fly!
