Tweaking LyX

I stumbled across this handy page, which put me on to editing LyX to suit my needs.

I never use half of the toolbar buttons, but have to do wrist-breakingly hard finger combinations to insert external text. So I've edited the UI configuration file to alter the toolbar! How handy.

Of course, the only provided icons are for the stock button set, so I've made some more (in the 4-colour vein of the originals).

You can download the changes here; extract into your ~/.lyx folder (try this command: cd ~/Desktop; mv lyxchanges.tar.bz2 ~/.lyx/; cd ~/.lyx; tar xjf lyxchanges.tar.bz2).

The changes probably won't be ideally-suited to you, but they're a good place from which to start.
