The critics said the same thing about my Hamlet!

The Punisher: Thank you, Dolph, for making such an awful movie. Turn an interesting character (Castle) into, well, Dolph Lundgren wearing black. Read the graphic novels, they're much better.

I'm so glad that I watched The Parole Officer instead. Funny, well-scripted, and entertaining. Lena Headey was particularly good; I like that kind of character!

Such disparity! Still, it was a good Saturday; a clean car, some Lisp reading, two Euro 2004 matches, a film, and some card throwing. Awesome.

Card throwing

As it's Saturday, I decided to try my hand again (apologies for the pun) at card throwing. After around half-an-hour of practice, I was striking the window across from me regularly; I had a modest degree of success shooting down the entrance hall, hitting the porch door window (approx. 2 by 3 feet) at a range of 15+ feet.

With more practice I would be confident that I'm better with cards than I am at darts. It's all in the fingertip: the arm and wrist provide motive power, while the fingertip contrains it by spinning the card. All of my misses came from an imbalance in these: either too much power (so the card swooped off to the right, tumbling), or too little power (so the spin took over, helicoptering the card down in a steep fall to the left). Matching the power to the spin led to a powerful, accurate shot that fitted down the narrow corridor to our front door.

Great fun. Soon, I will be Gambit!

Daring Fireball

Well, I just bought a Daring Fireball t-shirt. Who'd have thought I'd be paying money for a blog, eh?

I understand how much time it takes (by far the biggest expense), and I find John Gruber's writing to be interesting and informative.

My dilemma: I get a full-content members-only RSS feed, but I love the site design. What to do?!

Lazy day today; up late, had breakfast, still wearing a towel. I might read a book or two; some fiction I've been hoarding, and perhaps the rest of ANSI Common Lisp.

Ah, Saturdays.
