Word count

I ran a spell-check on my Transfer Report, which I'm currently writing to finish my first year of PhD study. As well as catching a few embarrassing spelling mistakes (too close to the document to spot them), LyX provides a word count: 14,700. 53 pages when rendered, including figures and references.

Some of those words are comments, so the real count is roughly 14,000 (I'm not going to strip down a version just to get an accurate count!). That's why my wrist hurts so much!

I shopped for new glasses this morning; a tedious task. Hundreds of frames, all of which look awful (particularly on my odd-shaped face!). Still, it's surprising how useful a camera phone can be:
I think I'm going to end up with Reactions lenses (the ones that darken in sunlight) — if anyone has experience of these (particularly under fluorescent lights), I'd appreciate an email!
