Safari and fonts

Being a good netizen, I am revamping my stylesheet to use proportional fonts. I'd just finished switching to percentage sizes when I decided to switch to “sans-serif” as the only font specifier.

Shock! Horror! Safari doesn't let you specify a default sans-serif font! I can't do it anywhere!

So, if I want a pretty page, I have to get on Brian's nerves.

What to do? Stick to the old stylesheet, specifying font and size, or switch to a ‘better’ approach, and lose the sizes and style?
