Duplicate “Open With” entries in the Mac OS X Panther contextual menus

I was getting rather annoyed at having 2 copies of each application in my “Open With” menus. After a bit of Googling, I found this hint:

/System/Library/Frameworks/\
ApplicationServices.framework/\
Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/\
Support/lsregister -kill -r
-domain local -domain system -domain user

Marvellous! Job done! This apparently also sorts out other problems, such as “application cannot be launched” errors.
