Never give Slashdotters an academic article
Particularly when it's a poor-quality article. Good God, it's like watching drunks sitting in the pub discussing market theory.
You can almost
smell the disbelief of those who know better: “Welcome to 2001… Hasn't everyone heard of this already?”. *sigh*

Nokia 6630
a.k.a. the most stupid design decision
ever. Picture the scene: Nokia's design department, some time ago.
Designer 1: Hey, we have to design Nokia's new 3G Series 60 phone.
Designer 2: I've thought of a great way to lose some bulk! We'll have only one camera, and have it on the back of the handset!
Designer 1: Won't that make video calling really pointless and hard?
Designer 2: Who cares! After all, we're the people who can't even make a usable keypad!
Their vicious child:
the Nokia 6630, a phone so spectacularly unsuited to its purpose that Nokia have already designed the Nokia Video Stand to rectify the mistake.
Fools.

Spyderco Police Necklace knife
My latest self-gift arrived today: the discontinued Spyderco Police mini necklace knife, from
New Graham. A slight dent on the presentation box, minor scratching on the knife, and a patch of tarnish on the silver chain, but otherwise fine — and understandable, as it's probably been in storage for 2 years. Here it is with my Kershaw Chive and my EDC Spyderco Dragonfly.
Lovely!
Anthony picked up a Kershaw Twocan, which is pretty cool — a little keychain/carabiner knife which has a second blade, turning it into some sprung scissors/shears! Great idea.
