The right way to tie your shoelaces

The Ian Knot. It really is fast!

What's more amazing is that it's on “Ian's Shoelace Site”. Unbelievable.

Software discovery of the day

Frink is a calculating tool and programming language, and it really is great. (There's also a Web interface — based on Frink Server Pages! — here.)

The key thing for me is that it keeps track of units, so this is perfectly valid:

Get my mileage for my last tank:
(322 miles) / (52 litres) -> miles/imperialgallon
73192049/2600000 (approx. 28.150788076923078)

Looks like I need more air in my tyres!

How much would that cost in dollars?
(52 litres) * (0.839 GBP/litre) -> "USD"
82.28720708 USD

Yowch! That was an expensive tankfull!

and it can do other kinds of translations:

"I will not buy this record; it is scratched." -> Spanish
No compraré este expediente; se rasguña.

It's also got installers for all sorts of mobile devices, so I have it running on my P800. Ace. Pick it up!
