Cocaine, anyone?
And, as if all this wasn't enough, it can always be purified into crack with bicarbonate of soda and sold in to the less affluent, but unfailingly loyal, junkie market.
I love the Guardian's
writing.

Cillit BANG!
All you ever wanted to know about Cillit BANG! Hilarious.
Good evening so far… I've imported 500 old photos into iPhoto (and tagged them!), got my phone working as a Bluetooth modem, and arranged a good few evenings out. Sweet.

Tip of the day
Jason Kottke:
When going through security at the airport, don't wear a shirt that depicts a little girl blowing her head off with a gun, even though her splattered brains turn into butterflies.

6630 problems
This afternoon I noticed the following symptoms with my Nokia 6630 on Orange:
- Unable to access Contacts, or any dialog which involved text entry — these simply killed the application outright
- Instant resets when hitting a number key on the main screen.
Together these render the phone useless (e.g. you can't call Orange customer services, because hitting a number key to choose menu options reboots the phone). However, they point towards a problem in the text entry infrastructure.
It turns out that I'm right — it's down to a corrupt T9 dictionary. Here's how I fixed it:
- Use the included backup function (Organiser > Memory card > Options… Backup phone mem.) to copy your data to the memory card, just in case
- Use a file explorer (e.g. FExplorer) to delete c:\system\data\PTIT9UDB0F.DAT, the T9 dictionary
- Turn the phone off and back on.
This fixed the problem for me; others have reported that they needed a hard reset, or a replacement device, but I'm not sure why.
As a downside, you lose your T9 dictionary, and it's not clear what corrupted it in the first place (so it could certainly happen again). I would also question why on earth a corrupt T9 dictionary causes such major problems as to craash the phone when entering numbers on the dialling screen.
Here's a post about the issue, and
here's another.
