Inevitable phone trials and tribulations
After the last problem (corrup T9 dictionary) I just had a memory card corruption — I couldn't open a new SMS, the file explorer couldn't read the Mail folder on the SD card, and some of my images were corrupt.Cons: I also can't find a way to extract the backup DB, so that's my SMSes gone — drat. I probably lost a picture or two, too, when I had to reformat, and there's the inconvenience of having to reinstall apps. I'm now storing my messages on the phone memory.
Pro: I was using the Nokia PC Suite to move stuff back across, so at least I was on the Windows PC with a bit of free time. This meant I could finally figure out how to move my data from Handy Safe on the P800 to the 6630: move c:\system\apps\Safe\Safe.ind and Safe.dat on the P800 to c: on the 6630. You might have to create a new DB with the same password first, then overwrite.
I now feel like I can't trust the phone — who knows when it'll lose my apps, or have a corrupt dictionary, or trash my pictures? I've had it fail to start apps before for no reason; sometimes a reset helps, sometimes not.
*sigh*
I never felt that I had these issues with UIQ. Oh well. Nothing to be done now, eh?
