Miscellany: idiots, shaving, music, Wilbur2, and Beethoven

This is a bit of a mixed bag. Bear with me.
  • Sweet Jesus, why did Zach have to mention this awful programming page on #lisp? So much misunderstanding, so many factual errors. It's truly remarkable.
  • I just had to have a shave because I looked like Stu from last year's Big Brother. My hair was long but up, and I'm wearing a yellow t-shirt and shorts. Uncanny.
  • “The Birds and the Bees” is this week's iTunes free download, and it's a catchy song from an advert! Hurrah! Somewhat related is LCD Soundsystem's Celebrity Playlist, which reveals his fairly-consistent good taste. Now, if only I didn't spend too much on music already….
  • Wilbur 2 is getting closer.
  • I refuse to mention x86 and Apple. Ah, shit.
  • Download all of Beethoven's Symphonies! I love the Beeb.

How many languages in your music collection?

From kottke.

English makes up the majority, but I have the following:
French
Air, Feist, Bryan Ferry, others
Spanish
Pixies, Buena Vista Social Club, Bowie live stuff
German
Just assorted albums from assorted artists!
Italian
Emma Shapplin, Filippa Giordano
Japanese
Assorted J-rock/J-pop, picked up from furialog and elsewhere. Oh, and Kaze Wo Atsumete by Happy End, from the Lost In Translation soundtrack. Cheery.
I've probably missed some obscure “World Music” music off the iTMS, but hey.

That's a pretty pathetic list, actually. Hmmm.

CL-AJAX, Parenscript, and Allegroserve

Ian (whose email address suggests a familiarity with Bowie's guitarists!) has been doing some work with CL-AJAX: firstly, porting it to Parenscript, and secondly porting it to Allegroserve.

His goal is to integrate with UnCommon Web.

Time to have a look at the code.
