Cockles

A brief update — Jenny did not dislike the cockles. It's a big win for traditional British cuisine.

Work update

Just in case the people who are interested read this blog, I'll post an update on my non-Tellme work. My FRBR/image annotation essay is developing well (as well as providing me with an opportunity to learn Markdown syntax). I don't know when it'll be finished, but it's getting somewhere. Karl Dubost will be pleased! It remains to be seen how well I actually do casting down the FRBR core into images — it's not a simple problem, or it would have been solved already.

I've also started switching twinql over to the latest SPARQL grammar from Andy Seaborne, which is LALR(1) (and thus should work fine with CL-Yacc — hurrah for optional dots!). This pretty much requires re-implementing the core of the parser, as otherwise I will miss a production, or an action will be wrong, and everything will fall over. (I've already done this twice when copying over productions to save time….)

At the same time I'm actually corresponding with Juliusz Chroboczek, the author of CL-Yacc; he might be implementing EBNF features, which would make my life easier, or at least simplify the grammar.

Then, at some point, I have to get back to the Schemarama re-implementation I began, the test suite for twinql that it prompted, some further Wilbur stuff, porting some things back to OpenMCL (and other things to Allegro Common Lisp), and maybe even my oft-cited tag ontology (I ought to put ads on that page!). Then I can do a bit more work on the FRBR core and surrounding ontologies. And then it'll be September.

It's a busy ol' life. I hardly find time to cook, drink, and play the guitar!
