Sleepy cat
No, not the database. Poor little Smokey wanted to sleep, but the lights were still on. This necessitates a paw over the eyes…
Utterly adorable. She's making cute little snoring sounds.
(Damn you, Danny, you win again! I'm posting cat photos!)

The stars
I took a walk just now, no more than a mile, to stretch my legs and to escape my odd mood. As always in suburbia, it was quiet.
The sky tonight was an inky blue; the atmosphere obscured most of the celestial show, soaking up scattered light, dyed a deep indigo. Pinpricks showed through, though, yielding the classic starry sky of fairy lights on a velvet backdrop. It was utterly captivating; I wished for a power cut to extinguish the street lights, leaving me a clearer view. There is something very special about an infinite cascade through such time, such distance, that puts things in (to use a cliché) proper perspective.
I saw a woman, also out walking — to say she was promenading would have accorded a grace to the activity that it did not merit — and I noticed that she never once looked up. What a shame, with such a spectacle up there.

Ten days in a week
How does one find the evenings to take up three new hobbies, maintain another, try to read, and go out — ten evenings' worth — in seven nights?
And how does one fit a similar proportion of daytime work into the five working days?
Well, I suppose I will have to find a way. I
will do it….
I suspect that if I quit NetNewsWire, and simply filled my hours with worthwhile things, that I could do it, but I will have to formally abandon the things I already neglect through procrastination, and devote myself to my commitments. It's a matter of self-discipline, not just talent.
“Nike”, as Small Wise Owl would say. Nike indeed.

A first goodbye
Thanks to Tingting, Michelle, Liz, and Sam for taking me out for Dim Sum — my first celebration of departure as I approach the end of my internship. Only four working days left, and much to do. (Then I hit Vegas, which is another tale entirely!)
It's been a very pleasant weekend; I hit Dana Street
twice today, read a lot, played some guitar, and I'll enjoy the rest of the day, too. I've even caught up on most of my emails, thanks to getting up at 8:30.
The new
Broken Social Scene album beckons, but — for a little while, at least — I think it's back to Lisp… I'm experimenting with something….
