Holiday weekend
I have had a wonderful weekend, thanks to those close to me. Friday saw Sam, myself, Chris, Chad, and Leah* hit the Duke of Edinburgh for some actually-not-bad English food. I had a Cornish Pasty, which surprised me (in a good way!).Jenny's family took me in for Christmas, so Saturday was a wonderful build-up to a delicious dinner, then a very musical service at the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church. Sunday morning was a Norwegian breakfast (well, we ate about 1pm!) and opening of gifts. I extend my heartfelt thanks to them all for making me feel so incredibly welcome; it was a lovely Christmas. Thanks also to Miller Dawg for her superb stocking contribution!
I spent this evening — Sunday, Christmas Day, and also Hannukah — at Joe and Liz's place, having fondue. It was an utterly bizarre thing to be doing on Christmas Day, but the people made up for any sense of surreality! Actually, they probably contributed to it — as an example, Sarah and I had quite a conversation about Australia/England, cricket, Smurfs, the Wombles, and Dr. Who, somehow — but hey.
Tomorrow I'll do some more drinking and some more eating, then it's back to Blighty I go… gosh.
* Spelling tentative!
