Hating Mozilla

I have a dynamic Web application. The user can modify a form field. This data is posted back to the server by Javascript. On Refresh, the form field is not repopulated with the value produced by the server — Mozilla/Firefox repopulates the field with the value that the user entered. For values that don't naturally roundtrip (e.g., I enter “123-4567” and the server produces “650-123-4567”) the displayed page is not the page that the server returned.

Safari is fine, of course.

I can fix this behaviour by adding a (non-standard) autocomplete="off" to the form, but then my page won't validate (and other form behaviour breaks). Instead, I'm going to have to write a load of Javascript.

It's not even like this is an obscure bug….

*sigh*
