Retarded hardware

So… the great-value Coolmax drive enclosures were built by retards. One point of trivial retardation was to be expected: you can't daisy chain them because they only have one Firewire port. They were cheap. *shrug*

Another one left me gobsmacked: you can't daisy chain them because every single one of those enclosures has the same device ID (0) — that is to say, they can't be present on the same Firewire bus as another enclosure because they are indistinguishable. That's so broken it's painful. Back to Newegg they go, to be replaced by an OWC Mercury RAID enclosure from MacSales.

Now I'm just waiting to see if the Mac Mini gets updated….

Have I mentioned that I hate computer hardware?
