Personalised bug fixes

The release notes for OmniWeb 5.5.1 beta 1 read like a personal list of fixes I've been needing. I have been bitten by the POST/post bug, using Firefox for my Basecamp site. I've had cookie problems with sites running on localhost. And more — fixed! Hurrah, Omni Group!

Crypto

Last night, a bunch of Tellmes went down to the Computer History Museum to celebrate 30 years of public-key cryptography. Whit Diffie, Marty Hellman, and other luminaries gave an entertaining talk, happily prefaced by free wine and hors d'oeuvres and followed by coffee and cookies. (Tobin and I scarpered before the probably-annoying questions from the floor.)

Better than the talk — amusing though it was — was the museum itself. It was amazing to see so much wonderful computer hardware: real core memory, Crays, PDP-*s, 70lb disk drives, and an awful lot of wiring. Unabashedly geeky comments and jokes were made and enjoyed. Some day I have to go back and take a docent tour.
