Tesco sucks

I've been getting regular emails from Tesco for some time; long after leaving the UK. At the bottom of each mail is a “click here to unsubscribe” link, so I clicked it.
Error Occurred While Processing Request
File not found: /unsub/grocery.cfm

Great.

Good person that I am, I decided to email them and tell them that their unsubscribe link is broken. Perhaps they don't know it's broken, I thought.

I got back a form email. It began:

Thank you for your email.

I'm sorry that we sent you some emails when you'd prefer not to get these. I'll be happy to explain how you can change your preferences for this service.

I sighed; they hadn't got the point. I begin drafting a reply:

I appreciate the advice, but the purpose of my email was actually to point out that:

* the newsletter comes with an "unsubscribe me" link
* the link does not in fact work.

Either:

* the newsletter should not have that link
* the link should work.

… and headed off to unsubscribe.

Unfortunately for my happiness, I didn't know my password. I dutifully click the “forgot password” link.

My email reply to Tesco got a bit longer when my password was sent in plaintext! I concluded my email:

Please consider this an official complaint about Tesco's security practices. Furthermore, please delete my account -- there is no way to do it from the My Account page.

You can guess what my inbox contained this morning.

Thank you for your email.
