NetNewsWire, graveyard of partially-read articles
I just checked the dates on some of my ‘leftmost’ tabs that I have open in NetNewsWire.December 12 2006.
I love how NetNewsWire never forgets, and I love that there's no performance impact from having far too many tabs open (unlike OmniWeb, which gobbles up gigs of RAM under the load to which I subject it!). It is unfortunate that these positive attributes encourage me to leave articles queued up for 11 whole months, in the hope that some day I will revisit them, perhaps taking some action as a result.
Some of these old tabs are now outdated (tips for putting iTunes libraries on network volumes, back when we were running iTunes 7.0.2); some are even 404s, or cryptic “web server is OK” messages.
Some, of course, are awesome, like The Algebra of Joy, which I regularly revisit for contemplation. One day I'll write a Joy interpreter for fun.
I guess I'll sort out my old tabs some other time. Perhaps the same day I write a Joy interpreter….
