How to beta test, traffic

Great list at NSLog():
  1. Don't do open betas. People just like to use free software, and most of the reported bugs are worthless. "It crashed when I clicked on the toolbar."
I also just looked at my Analog reports for the first time in months. The figures are quite surprising:
MonthRequests
Sep 20031203
Oct 2003983
Jan 200421,247
Apr 200444,012
May 200424,454
So going by the time through the month, I should have 40,000 hits in May. That's a 40-fold increase since September.

In that time, 2,912 distinct hosts have hit the server. Almost 2/3 of the browsers hitting the site identify as Mozilla (including Safari); MSIE is in second place, and the Googlebot has visited an astonishing 7,006 times!

Crazy. That suggests I must have some readers!
