How to beta test, traffic
Great list at NSLog():I also just looked at my Analog reports for the first time in months. The figures are quite surprising:
- Don't do open betas. People just like to use free software, and most of the reported bugs are worthless. "It crashed when I clicked on the toolbar."
So going by the time through the month, I should have 40,000 hits in May. That's a 40-fold increase since September.
Month Requests Sep 2003 1203 Oct 2003 983 … … Jan 2004 21,247 … … Apr 2004 44,012 May 2004 24,454
In that time, 2,912 distinct hosts have hit the server. Almost 2/3 of the browsers hitting the site identify as Mozilla (including Safari); MSIE is in second place, and the Googlebot has visited an astonishing 7,006 times!
Crazy. That suggests I must have some readers!
