Donnie Darko

Following my amazing trend of seeing films months after everyone else, I just watched Donnie Darko. I'm very pleased to say that it is as good as everyone said. The acting was invisible, the storyline was thought provoking, and it digs into the psyche — I can tell when I like a film because I regret the deaths of characters*, and this was no exception. 5 stars.

I have since, of course, read about the Director's Cut, which disappointed me; some minor improvements (in my view), but some things made too obvious and some things destroying the illusory understanding that that comes from an individual interpretation of the events portrayed.

One for DVD… oh, I did see it on DVD!
