Climbing!
So — it's Thursday afternoon, I'm chatting to Liz, and she asks if I want to go climbing. Now, I haven't climbed in donkey's years, but why the hell not?An hour later I'm 15 feet up a wall. I did a 5.7, a 5.8 or two, failed on a 5.9 because my hands were getting so weak, and then utterly messed up the same 5.7 because I could hardly hold on to a thing. I'm disappointed in you, hands — I'm glad I'm wearing slip-on shoes! However, I enjoyed it, I feel better for going, and I had a great conversation with Shannon (who I expect has now found this blog*…!). I'd love to go again some time.
By 9 or 10 we'd arrived at Gordon Biersch in Palo Alto, which was good fun (as was parking Liz's car!). Much conversation there, as well as en route; I'm constantly surprised and pleased when I get the chance to really talk to people.
Thanks for the ride et al, Liz, much appreciated.
* OK, has definitely found this blog! See you Saturday!
