My First Earthquake

We'd just served dinner when a 5.6 hit a few miles away. There were about 10 seconds of really noticeable shaking; the spices fell off the rack in the kitchen. The chandelier in the hall was still swinging a few minutes later, while we were all standing outside hitting quake.usgs.gov on our iPhones.

Shortly thereafter the local AT&T cell got overwhelmed, but I was at home, so I had wifi!

It was a fascinating experience. I'm glad nothing fell down, and nobody was hurt.
