Cast of Characters
Here are some of the people mentioned in my blog. Typically they correspond to actual living beings.
Entries will appear as I can be bothered to write; don't be offended if you're currently missing. You can let me know if you should be urgently added!
- Elaina
-
Elaina is my wife, the beautiful woman with whom I choose to spend my days, and from whom I have been inseparable since I first laid eyes on her. I am very pleased to fill my days with books, cafés, tea, and her.
She plays a lot of soccer.
- Chelsea
-
Chelsea is Elaina's partner in crime. They have a tendency to turn up at work in identical outfits, with the same hairstyle, looking equally cute. It's disgusting. She's also an IRONMAN, which is puzzling, for while she can swimbikerun (for fifteen straight hours!), she cannot stay awake for the duration of a Hollywood movie.
Her delightful and patient husband is Shaun.
- Carey Pridgeon
-
A friend from my undergraduate degree. He's now studying under my undergraduate project supervisor. Here is his (empty) University page; he's also the developer of the scary nMod n-body simulator.
- Michelle
-
Michelle is an intimidating conversationalist, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Quite the photographer, too — she photographed my wedding. Sorely missed at Tellme.
- Jen
-
Jen is a legend, housemate of repute, and mistress of the cats. She also dances really well. It's pretty frightening at times. A reason to go to California? I think so. She just needs a range of postcards.
- Indy
-
My marvellous little canine friend. He knows how to live it up.
I miss this little blighter.
- Smokey and Bubba

The aforementioned cats. Bubba loves me more than life itself. This often results in less sleep for me.
- Shannon
-
The girl with the sunny disposition, Shannon can run further than me, bump PageRanks like… um… a professional, and still make interesting conversation. She is bemused by my obsession with toast.
- Lisa
My girlfriend of several years, up until the end of December 2004. She's lovely. We obviously have our differences, though!
- Anthony
My brother, also of several years (an obvious distinction is that Anthony is still my brother!). He drinks a little, writes a bit for money, and sleeps upside down. His lass is the delightful Susie, who tries her best not to encourage him. Poor woman.
- Tim Putnam
Tim is far too nice for someone so talented. I'll let him describe himself more fully.
- Diana Griffiths
She makes bloody good macaroons. One might say she's like a mother to Tim and myself. If one did, of course, one might find oneself with a prime example of blunt force trauma.
Where do I find such polymaths?
- Kim
Kim is, in many ways, a lady worthy of mention. This is that mention.
- Bek
Bek has fled the country. She's nearly as mad as the proverbial box of frogs, and likes badgers, jam, and spoons, as you can see.
- Tim Millea
My former supervisor. He has a worrying site and an even more worrying obsession with Turkey, sufficient to give up a perfectly good job in academia to become a property developer there.
- Mike Evans
Another former supervisor. I seem to have a habit of collecting them!
